Okeeheelee Park and Palm Beach 05/10/2009

We started our day by biking the South Side of the Okeeheelee park. The paths are mixed with equestrian trails. These trails are sugar sand and pose much difficulty to ride, not matter which low gear you shift into. Either/or, we persevered! After biking for around an hour, we decided to cool off by going to beach for a swim in the 75 degree water. This was very refreshing. We finished our outing by having a picnic in the shade at the beach.

Dead End!
Palm Beach County is doing a nice job of planting indigenous species in their latest attempt to preserve the area.

The attach of the sugar sand! No pain - no gain! My legs were burning after tackling this terrain!

Okeeheelee Park 04/18/2009

We went for a ride today at Okeeheelee Park. It was a bit warmer and breezy today. Saw many species of birds today; however I only got a few shots. They are too fast! I did not see any Alligators or Water Moccasins in the canals that were heavily covered with Lilly Pads. Maybe another day?

Okeeheelee Park

After a very long workweek that included facilitating a youth group this AM, we decided to unwind by taking some nature pictures. We visited the Okeeheelee Park to take some shots. It was a beautiful day; however, being that it was in the earlier PM, there not many critters out.
