This is a blooming Vanda (orchid). The blooms appear to be deformed. This is probably due to the heat, drought, and the wind that we are enduring. The flowers are sensitive, so even the blooms being touched prior to them opening can cause deformities or even will kill the individual bloom. The photos below are shot at different view point to exhibit several blooms that will probably not open at the tip of the stalk.

Thanks for the information on the Vandas. Martha has several Orchids, but no Vandas. My sister-in-law has several Vandas (her favorites). I will pass the information and your blog site along to her.
I am adding your site to my "Check it Out - Favorites" Blog roll. Orchids, insects, and even great recipes. What more could you want?
Thanks for the recent visit and kind comments. I am jealous, we haven't been on a cruise in 20 years. We loved St. Thomas and San Juan. Never been to the Turks.
Have a little extra fun for me when you go. Bring back photos.
Come visit anytime,
Troy
Sounds like its time for you to take a cruise. We are taking the Eurodam, the newest ship for Holland America that makes its maiden voyage this summer.
Vandas are easy to grow. I am thinking that fertilizer may have gotten some liquid fertilizer on the blooms because another Vanda that is starting to bloom is exhibiting the same problem.
