A day at Apoxee Park 12/22/2007

Apoxee Park

Grassy Waters

I visited Apoxee Park with David and Frank last month. We had a great time and got lost! Yes, we got lost and made it back. They have guide markers in place with no map to correspond with the markers; therefore, we got lost. Either/or, we had a great time. It had rained the days before our visit, so most of the paths were flooded; however, we persevered! I have posted some pictures below that included the native Butterfly/Onion Orchid, as well as other air plants and critters. Note that all of the dead trees are Melaleuca that the state government is tying very hard to dispose of as they are not indigenous to Florida and are adding to our water problems, along with the Australian Pines. The Spider/Onions Orchids below have been removed from a Melaleuca Tree and transplanted onto a Pine Tree.
