I noticed a Monarch Butterfly that had just hatched from its cocoon this AM. What a Beautiful sight to observe this creature drying its wings! The specimen is is resting on a Foxtail palm, next to a small Giant Air Plant. Before cocooning, the caterpillar had been feeding on the Milkweed plants in my Butterfly Garden.
Thank you for visiting. Click on any photo to enjoy its native size & please leave a comment! My photos are captured with my Canon Rebel XTI with a Tameron 28 - 300 MM lens, Canon PowerShot SD800 IS and/or iPhone.

Is that a wild bromelaid??? I saw a whole lot of them on that river boat cruise at Jonathan Dickenson! I love them...they are wispier than the bromelaids in the stores!
They are giant air plants (small ones!). In the same family with bromelaids and orchids.
